Kilsyth Civic Week builds on over 50 years’ experience as a community group organising Civic Week.

We achieved charitable status in April 2025 and this supports the sustainability of Civic Week but we will still do what we have always done.

What we do:

  • Organise a community festival showcasing the talents of the people of the town and its surrounding villages.

  • Hold a Civic Day, a community gala to launch the festival, generally this will start the second Saturday in June.

  • Arrange and work with others to arrange sporting activities and competitions such as lawn bowls, swimming, badminton, golf and football.

  • Arrange and work with others to arrange poetry and art activities and competitions.

  • Recruit a Civic Party through our local schools, a group of young people who will be ambassadors for the festival.  Each will be chosen by their school within the catchment of the town. The Civic Party is open to all children and young people of school age. Our commitment to social justice is important and we will support the purchase or rental of the clothing and equipment required to participate.

  • Recognise the achievements of participants in Civic Week activities.

  • Create opportunities for social interaction and connection to combat social isolation and loneliness to maintain and enhance the sense of civic pride we have in our town.
